The Studebaker National Museum & The History Museum
Two museums, one stop — connected with a shared entrance.

The Studebaker National Museum chronicles over a century on wheels, from the Studebaker family’s Conestoga Wagon to the last automobile to roll off the assembly line in 1966 — tracing the only company to successfully transition from one of America’s foremost wagon manufacturers to a producer of modern automobiles.
Among the collection’s most distinguished holdings is the world’s largest collection of U.S. presidential carriages, including the barouche that carried President Abraham Lincoln to Ford’s Theatre. The newly preserved Muppet Car and a 1933 Studebaker Indy car are also on display.

The History Museum’s exhibits showcase the St. Joseph River Valley from prehistory and early settlement through the rise of regional industry. The campus encompasses the 38-room Oliver Mansion (leaded glass windows, parquet floors, 14 fireplaces, original furnishings) with 2.5 acres of formal Italianate and rose gardens, a tea house, pergola, fountain, and carriage house.
Also on the grounds is the Worker’s Home, reflecting the life of an African American working family in the 1950s. The museum additionally serves as the official repository for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League collection.
